Here are 10 things you should know:

First, the Baltimore Development Corporation has $2 million in Small Business Assistance Grants with individual grants up to $15,000! The application portal is now live for BDC’s second round of small business grants and will remain open through Friday, October 16th 2020. Individual grant awards will be based on the business size, which will be determined by 2019 federal tax filing. There are no business type restrictions, but businesses must be located in Baltimore City. You can find grant terms, conditions, and eligibility requirements at http://baltimoredevelopment.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Grant-Terms-Conditions.pdf. You can apply at https://airtable.com/shryQGXYjFXp1YUoD.

Second, Baltimore Business Lending has received $300,000 in grant funding from Truist Financial Corporation to make 30 discretionary grants of $10,000 each to small businesses located in Baltimore City that have been significantly impacted by COVID-19. Similar to BDC grants, businesses must be located in Baltimore City and have revenues of less than $750,000 or under $1.5M if restaurants. Unlike BDC grants, there are no geographic priorities and businesses must demonstrate losses due to COVID-19. Applications are currently being accepted through October 16th 2020.  Application portal: https://airtable.com/shr8uIBsMMLtNy6eT. Guidelines: https://baltimorebusinesslending.org/small-business-grant?mc_cid=d3ec25d554&mc_eid=3f01f96bf7. Contact Melissa Badeker with any questions at melissa.badeker@bclending.org or 410-319-0732.

Third, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we’ve taken on the fight against breast cancer by becoming a Real Men Wear Pink Fundraiser for Baltimore. I want to thank all those who have already donated. We have raised nearly $3000 and we are currently leading fundraising in our region. If cancer has affected your family or if you want to join the fight, I encourage you to check out our Real Men Wear Pink profile page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/willholmes
