Weekly Message From The Chair, June 8, 2020

Message #24- 6/8/20

Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce Members and Friends,

Summary: In this message, I highlight: events and resources; contract opportunities; funding opportunities; health care options; job opportunities; offers from Members and info you can use to make better business decisions. Please share this weekly message with 10 people who will benefit. Learn more about us at www.baltimorecitychamber.org.

First, I will repeat the statement I made at last week’s June General Membership Meeting. “The Baltimore City Chamber is the most diverse business organization in the city and we stand against inequality. We stand against police brutality. We are here to help everyone in the Baltimore business community connect to the resources they need to thrive.” If you have questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Second, we’ve had some great joint webinars with Members over the last month. This seems like a great way to help our Members gain exposure and create a new way to connect with potential customers and partners. It also creates content for Members to use for future marketing. If you would like to host a webinar with the Chamber, please schedule a call with me so we can discuss Membership benefits and what the Chamber can do for you. Special thanks to Dr. Sosena Kebede for an amazing webinar on how businesses can reopen safely after COVID-19. If you would like the advice of a medical professional and consultant on ways to open safely, contact Dr. Kebede at soskeb@gmail.com.

Third, I invite you to join us for our June Virtual Happy Hour this Thursday. It’s fun. We wear our logos, make toasts every 15 minutes and introduce ourselves to the group. All are welcome to attend. Click here to register!

Fourth, I am starting a free, online leadership mentoring program. If you are looking for ways to create economic power, grow your business, grow a non-profit or lead a movement, our program is designed to help you understand what is involved in building the operational foundations for supporting your effort. It is called the Baltimore Economic Leadership League and all are encouraged to apply. Learn more at https://whcusa.com/bell/

Fifth, Governor Hogan has moved Maryland into Stage 2 of Re-opening. In case you missed it, our Executive Director William Honablew, Jr. gave a full report at last week’s General Membership Meeting. In summary, people are still encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. Also, more businesses are able to open and certain guidelines apply. You should determine how this applies to your business. Read the Governor’s Executive Order here.

Sixth, the Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act of 2020 was signed into law on June 3rd, giving more favorable terms to businesses who receive the PPP. Check out the details at https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/7010 and contact us with questions.

Seventh, if we are not already connected on social media, let’s connect on Facebook (Chamber / Me) and LinkedIn (Chamber / Me) so, in between weekly messages, you can stay informed.

Keep reading for this week’s Opportunities, Events and Information!
