First, we had an outstanding week of ticket and sponsorship sales for our Chamber Masquerade indoor/ outdoor holiday party. Many took advantage of the early-bird pricing which ends this evening! Third, I’d like to thank the Daily Record for featuring me on the front page! We talked about the Chamber, my new venture and the need for more capital to be made available to rural, minority and woman-owned businesses. Click here to read the article.

Fourth, each Spring, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School has an amazing, free, 8-week program for entrepreneurs called the Community Consulting Lab. You are paired with a team of MBAs who help you improve your revenue, marketing, accounting, pricing, projections and growth strategy. This Thursday evening, we are having a sample event so you can understand how this program can benefit you. Sixth, on 11/18/21, join the Baltimore Metro WBC, the Maryland Capital Enterprise Women’s Business Center, and the Maryland Women’s Business Center (Rockville, MD) for a panel discussion on how these industry experts can support your business: Bankers, Accountants, Insurance Agents & Lawyers. This discussion will be facilitated by Jim Peterson, Vice President and Small Business Ambassador on the Minority & Women Owned Business Team at M & T Bank. Our Finance Committee Chair Kimberly Castle Royster will be one of the experts on the panel! Click here to register.

Seventh, Baltimore City has established an online application process for the American Rescue Plan Act funding to support projects for City agencies and nonprofit organizations. Projects must have a minimum grant request of $250,000 to be considered. Eighth, the SBA is hosting SBA Hour with Veterans – 11/16/2021 from 11am-12pm. The facilitator will discuss the SBA programs and services that are offered to veterans and lead 20-30 minutes of open Q&A. Tenth our friend Jan Walker-Emeogo from the Department of Labor has shared some business resources:Funding For Women, Minority, and LGBTQ+ Business Owners

  • The NBA and LegalZoom have teamed up to help underserved small business owners with $6 million in grants. This is a multi-year partnership, with the grant opportunity as the first official initiative. They’ll be made available twice per year for the next three years. Mentorship and job training are also available. The companies say the grants will specifically serve women, minorities, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ owned businesses. Applications are due by November 23.
